Today is the final day of Mental Health Awareness Week and we want to make sure everyone knows it's OK to feel what you feel. But are you taking care of your mind? Are you finding ways to decrease your stress and build resiliency? Are you asking for help when you need it? It is totally normal to have mental health challenges, but you don't have to go through it alone. Please seek help. You are enough and together we are enough!

Attention all artists and crafters, the Leo Club is having there annual H-Art auction and needs donations. If you have any art that you would like to donate, please bring your art to room 230 (Mrs. Ruether) or to the main office.

    Thursday, May 11, 2023:  Today is a D Day

Today's Mental Health Theme is "Who can help?" The Natural Helpers Student Survey showed that over half of our students go to a friend first if they need help. Every day you are surrounded by people that can help you with your mental health. Reaching out to trusted adults like teachers, parents, coaches, and community members; or using school resources like the nurse, counselors, or psychologist could be the support you need. There's nothing to be ashamed of, we all need help from time to time. we are here, and we are ready to help.

(Read Wednesday's announcements for additional information.)

    Wednesday, May 10, 2023:  Today is a C Day

Today's theme for Mental Health Awareness week is "Building Resiliency!" One of the easiest ways to build resilience is to have and show gratitude.  Keeping a gratitude journal, telling someone they are important to you, or simply pausing to think about what you are grateful for can take your mind off of what is NOT going right and allow you to center your thinking on the positive. Gratitude is a free and effective way to tend to your mental health. Think of something you are thankful for in your life. If your're thankful for people, be sure to tell them!

Congratulations to the Boys Track and Field team for beating Portville last night 105-27. The quadruple winner was Matthew Milliner and the triple winners were Connor Goudie, Joshua Nolder and Alex Redeye.

    Tuesday, May 9, 2023:  Today is a B Day

Our Mental Health Awareness Week theme for today is "Stressors and Stigma". This morning, Natural Helpers handed out "Stress Survival Kits" that have items with different meanings to help you with your stress. In the kit is also a green ribbon that we ask you to wear to support mental health awareness week. If you did not receive one, please stop in Student Services to pick one up. Too much stress can cause poor mental health, but the symptoms of stress are often felt in our bodies. Symptoms like headaches, trouble sleeping, or an upset stomach can be caused by stress, and are often missed as signals of mental health stress. Even though we all have mental health struggles from time to time, stigma is the number one reason people don't seek help for mental issues. What could you do to help break the stigma?

If you are interested in summer driver's education courses, please sign up in the Student Services office this week.

The 5th and 6th grade band and chorus concert is this Thursday May 11th at 7pm. Come and support these talented students as they perform in their last concert of the year? You will  not want to miss it.

Monday, May 8, 2023:  Today is an A Day

Today is the first day of mental health awareness week. All week-long Natural Helpers will be talking about our minds and how we can keep them healthy. Today's theme is "We all have metal health". We need to normalize talking about and taking care of our mental health just as we take care of our physical health. Exercise, getting rest, talking about feelings, and having fun with friends and family can help our minds stay healthy. Have a great day and be on the lookout for your stress survival kit tomorrow morning.
