    There will be a mandatory graduation meeting on Monday the 23rd of May at 2:30 in the cafeteria.  If you sign out with your senior privileges, you must return for this meeting. This meeting should take around 20 minutes.  You will be required to sign the graduation contract, and all information regarding graduation will be provided at the meeting.  If you have any questions, please see Mrs. Rakoska or Ms. Stamets.

    • Good morning all! This Thursday is the Arts Fest. We have several events going on that day, including a fusion of art and athletics with a 5K Color Run/Walk. If you would like to participate in this event, please go to Teams chat to sign up or reach out to me if you have any questions. You will need to sign up by Tuesday, May 24 and you will be given a wrist band to participate.  Also students in 9th-12th, be sure to sign up for the kickball tournament - there will be a limit of 12 teams. You will also get a wrist band to show you will be participating in the tournament!

    The 2022 All-Western New York Scholar-Athlete winter sports team has been announced.  To be nominated for the team, the athlete must have carried a 90 plus average for the previous six semesters and have been a starter or significant player in their winter sport.  Allegany-Limestone placed two athletes on this year’s team. Congratulations to Jacob Brink, Boys’ Indoor Track, and Gianna DeRose, Girls’ Basketball.

    Congratulations to our senior softball players, Kearstin Foster, Jenna Margeson, Kortney Magara, and Kelsey Shea, on their Wednesday night Senior Night!

    Senior Bradley Walton was recognized for his academic achievement at last night’s Big 30 Academic dinner.  Congratulations to Bradley, our 2022 Class Valedictorian!

    It was a lively evening of music last night as the 7th and 8th grade band, the 6th grade band, and the 5th grade band performed! Bravo, musicians and Mr. Fancher and Dr. Bodnar!  Last night was the last concert for Mr. Fancher.  Thank you, Mr. Fancher.

    Bring extra clothes!  If you’re in violation of the dress code, you will have to add or change clothing.

    Congratulations to Thinus Marias on placing first in the CCAA singles tournament.  Thinus will play in tennis sectionals at the end of May. Great job, Thinus!

    BOCES and Big Picture students,this Friday, our buses will pick you up  in the morning at your regular pick up time and place.  The bus will bring you to school, take you to your BOCES or Big Picture program, bring you back from your BOCES or Big Picture program, and then take students home at 2:50.  If you do not have a ride in the middle of the afternoon, we will have a place for you to wait at ALMHS until the 2:50 bus home.  Please sign up in the office if you'd like breakfast and/or lunch on Friday!

    Any students in grades 8-11 interested in a teaching career is invited to attend an informational meeting to plan for a new program at ALCS.  The meeting will be held Tuesday from 3 to 4 pm in Room 220. If you have questions, see Mrs. Billings.

    Attention NJHS applicants:  Completed applications for new members will be due NO LATER than Monday, May 2nd.  Mrs. Luce and Mrs. Callen extended the deadline since school is closed this Friday, April 29th.  Applications will not be accepted beyond May 2nd.  Please let them know if you have any questions!

    SBU's Dean Chimbel announced the following winners who will be granted scholarships if they attend St. Bonaventure. The scholarships will be continued each year up to four years for students who major in one of the Jandoli School undergrad programs.

Breaking, exciting news!  Our school won 1st place in the Cattaraugus County Envirothon!  We are going to STATES!  Congratulations to the team of Xavier Hilmey, Sughosh Kondur, Jesse Decker, Andrew Opperman, and Connor Ellison.  It's our first first place at the Envirothon.  Congratulations, team and Mr. Waugaman!

    Invest In Us members will have their "closing bell" ceremony May 6th at SBU. Anyone interested, pick up a permission slip from Mr. Roh in Room 226 ASAP.  It promises to be a real bull market experience!

    Sixth Graders recently participated in the Brain Awareness Week Essay Contest that was sponsored by the Cattaraugus County Health Department!  All the students did a great job, and the following winning essays were selected:

     Allisyn Kellogg – 1st Place, winner of a $50 Amazon gift card. Her winning essay will be published in the Olean Times Herald!

    Isaac Holliday – 2nd Place, winner of a $25 Amazon gift card. 

    And Melody Hayes – 3rd Place, winner of a $15 Amazon gift card.

Riley Memorial Torch Run will be held on May 4th at 8:45  The Law Enforcement Torch Run is an awareness for the Special Olympics.  New York Law Enforcement, athletes, volunteers, and community members come together to carry the Flame of Hope, the symbol of the Special Olympics, throughout different communities.  The average run is about a 10 minute mile. Everyone has the opportunity to carry the Flame of Hope. We do ask that all participants purchase an official Torch Run shirt for $25.  If you are interested in running, please see Ms. Schuman in room 140 or Mrs. Moshier in Room 168.

    We will be administering SAT exams today and the grades 6-8 math assessments tomorrow and Thursday morning.

    Today at 2:40, we will have a send off for our students who will be competing at SKILLS USA at STATES!

    Mrs. Moore:  I was so proud of our students and faculty yesterday with the kindness that was displayed by and to everyone.  The thoughtfulness that students extended to our faculty was almost overwhelming.  Thank you, Gators. We have tough times ahead of us, but we'll be together through them.

    We will not have school on Friday, but we will be providing transportation for our BOCES and Big Picture students. Information will be communicated in the near future.

    We are so excited to share this news with our school and community:  Alicia Crimmins has been distinguished as one of only 3 “Best in Show” winners at this year’s high school art show at the Quick Center for the Arts.  Only 75 total works were chosen to be included in this show, and only three of those artists were honored with a  “Best in Show” award and a $1,000 scholarship to attend St. Bonaventure University.  Let’s fill the Quick Center on Monday, April 4, at 5:00 to celebrate our talented artist, Alicia Crimmins, at the opening reception of the show!

    Our Odyssey of the Mind High School team took 6th place at States this past weekend, and the elementary team will be going to WORLDS!  We're so proud of all of you!

    Gianna DeRose and Tyler Curran were selected to play in yesterday's Big 30 Basketball Classic.   The New York girls beat the Pennsylvania team, and the Pennsylvania boys beat the NY boys.  Tyler was unable to play yesterday and that may have contributed to the loss!  Great game, Gianna, and congrats to both seniors for the recognition.

    The nursing office is running low on icepacks. If you have them, please return them!

    The GSA Club is having a fundraiser this week, in the lobby, every morning.  They will be selling hand-made magnets and stickers.  Magnets are $1, and stickers are 2 for $1 or 50 cents each.  Please show your support!

    Craft Club is today, Wednesday, from 3:00 to 4:00.  Any student in grades 6-12 is welcome.  There will be a late bus today if you need one.  YOU MUST BE picked up by 4:00 if you stay for Craft Class…no exceptions. 

    We will be offering a spectator bus to the boys basketball game this Saturday in Glens Falls as they participate in the States FINAL FOUR.  We will need 30 students to sign up before Wednesday afternoon to be able to send the bus. The bus will leave at 7:00 am and return at approximately 11:00 pm.  The Sports Boosters are willing to pay for students’ tickets to the game if the students ride the spectator bus.

    And our boys move on! Congratulations and good-luck to our boys and coaches as our basketball team advances to FINAL FOUR in Glens Falls Saturday. Spectator bus will be available!

    Over the weekend, Ang Napoleon and Jacob Brink participated in the New Balance National Indoor Track and Field Championships. Jacob placed 19th in the mile run while Ang placed 8th in the high jump and 9th in the 800 meter run. Congratulations to both of them!

    Congratulations to the Odyssey of the Mind teams that competed at the regional level this past weekend. The Middle School team came in 3rd place in Division II, and the high school team came in first place in their division. The high school team will be heading to the state competition in Syracuse on March 25th and 26th. Great job, teams!

    A special thank you to Kennedy Honeck, Leora Dreher, Josie Hastings, Ava Filjones, Greg Peck, Grace STout-Peters, Elexa Duggan, Abby Peck, and Kenna McArthur.  You did a great job helping out at the competition on Saturday. A thank you also goes out to Mrs. Finn, who did an amazing job with the concession stand!

    Band students in grades 7-12, break a leg tonight!  Band concert under the direction of Dr. Bodar tonight, 7 pm, in the gym!

    Our Olean CTE students at BOCES did an outstanding job at the SkillsUSA Regional Competition yesterday at Alfred State College.   Congratulations to Ben Wolfe who placed third in Restaurant Services.  This was an amazing accomplishment.  All the other students that competed but did not place did an outstanding job as well and are looking forward to competing in April at States. 

    The National Honor Society and NASSP are happy to announce that a member of our school's NHS chapter, Halley Glover, has been selected as one of this year's NHS Scholarship Semifinalists and will receive a scholarship award in the amount of $3,200!   This is a national scholarship.  The national committee extends its heartiest congratulations to Halley Glover and your school community.

    The New York State Indoor Track and Field Championships were this weekend in Staten Island.

    Angelina Napoleon won the STATE CHAMPIONSHIP in the 1000 M Run with a time of 2:49.65 which is a new Section 6 Record and just missed the all-time New York State Meet record by 1 second.

    Jacob Brink finished 12th in the 1600 with a time of 4:23.77 which also broke the Allegany-Limestone school record held by Owen Barber in 2015.

    The girls 4 x 400 relay finished 15th consisting of Jessica Daley, Maddie Straub, Ashlyn Collins and Tyyetta Herman with a time of 4:23.24.

    Tony Bates finished 18th in the triple jump with a jump of 40' 5".

    Congratulations to our boys varsity basketball team and coaches for defeating Newfane last night at Buff State.  They next play Saturday at noon at Buff State again Tapestry.  Sign up for the spectator bus in the main office!  Shout out to our Gator mascot who brought a chuckle to the announcers of the game, to our students who cheered on our team and represented our school well, and to Mrs. Stayer who chaperoned the game.
