What do students do in AIS?

PALS—Peer Assisted Learning Strategies:  Students work in pairs.  In each pair, students work on reading skills such as:

• Sounds
• Sounding out words
• Sight words
• Stories

In the science of reading, knowledge building is just as important as phonics instruction.  Storyworks helps:

• Build background knowledge
• Increase word knowledge
• Develop oral language
