Dr. Cyril Bodnar
Cyril Bodnar, DMA is ecstatic to be serving his third year at Allegany-Limestone Central School District, where he is the Director of Bands for the Middle and High School. Previously, Dr. Bodnar has taught in a number of different local school districts, including Orchard Park, Hamburg, and Lake Shore, given masterclasses and presentations in New Jersey and Delaware, and even taught internationally in Costa Rica.
Dr. Bodnar holds a Doctorate in Musical Arts in Performance and a Master's Degree in Music Performance from Rutgers University - New Brunswick, as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Music Education and Performance from Ithaca College. As a student musician, Dr. Bodnar was fortunate enough to perform with many great musicians, such as Phil Smith, formerly of the NY Philharmonic Orchestra, Joseph Allesi of the NY Philharmonic Orchestra, renowned cornet virtuoso Derek Smith, jazz cornetist Warren Vache, and many more. He has also been a soloist with the Baroque Orchestra of New Jersey, the Imperial Brass Band, and been a guest artist with the Gramercy Brass Orchestra of New York.
Outside of conducting the MHS Bands and providing private and group instruction to its musicians, Dr. Bodnar is also involved in the Drama Club and D&D Club. When not in class, he serves as the Executive Director, Personnel Manager, and Principal Trumpet for the Southern Tier Symphony Orchestra, and regularly performs with the Western New York Chamber Orchestra and Warren Philharmonic Orchestra. This coming November, he will be a clinician at the New York State School Music Association Winter Conference in Rochester, NY. He also maintains his own private studio for trumpet students. Dr. Bodnar has had several of his students participate in County and State-wide Music Solo Festivals and achieve placement in their respective performing ensembles.
