• Hello!

My name is Miss Scalise, and I am the new Middle and High School Chorus teacher!  I am so excited to join Allegany-Limestone!  I attended SUNY Fredonia for my BM and MM degrees, both in Music Education.  In my years at Fredonia, I performed in all of the choral ensembles in the school of music including the highly competitive Fredonia Chamber Choir.  I have performed all types of choral repertoire from religious to contemporary to musical theater and to spirituals as well as solo repertoire such as art songs and operatic arias.  I attended every NYSSMA solo festival, Area All-State, and All-County in Chautauqua County when I was in middle and high school.  I have also performed in several musical productions, including an ensemble member in Mozart’s Don Giovanni

During my time at Allegany-Limestone, I hope to make connections with students, parents, faculty, and the community through various performances throughout the school year.  I encourage everyone to keep a song in their hearts because everyone can sing!  Singing is not just for a certain group of people.  Singing is for everyone no matter who they may be.

In the light of COVID-19, things will be extremely different this year with the possible absence of traditional rehearsals and concerts.  The Music Department is working together in order to maintain a safe and caring environment in our classrooms.  We are striving to protect not only the faculty, but the students so we can all rehearse and perform together once again.

In the chorus classroom, students and I are expected to be kind, courteous, and understanding of every person in the ensemble.  Masks will be required at all times in order to protect every student and teacher in the room.  When we are singing, students are required to wear their masks and to be spaced 12 feet apart from each other.  Rehearsals will consist of traditional choral activities as well as learning music theory and music history.  When we are not holding a traditional choral rehearsal with singing (such as a study hall or General Music), students will be spaced 6 feet apart and are still required to wear their masks.  Students will be given multiple short mask breaks during classes (This has been updated starting on Dec. 3rd).  This also applies to every study hall and General Music class.  Depending on the size of the class, we may have rehearsals in the Theater.  Don't worry!  We will make sure that everyone knows exactly where they should be.

I am so excited to be a part of Allegany-Limestone!  Any questions may be directed to my email at ascalise@alcsny.org or my telephone at 716-375-6600 ext. 2283.

    Thank you!

    Alexandra Scalise
