• Students who would like to be a candidate for the Seal of Biliteracy,  must be able to communicate at a solid Intermediate High level.  Some of the traits for this level include, but are not limited to:

    Intermediate

    High

    *can complete a multi-step situation or complicated situation

    *can add detail

    *can support a point of view

    *ask and answer a variety of questions

    *can discuss past events

    *can tell a story in present and future with errors

    This will be demonstrated through the successful completion of a Checkpoint C course in the target language with an overall average of 85% or higher, plus a cultural presentation that will include a researched topic, a formal presentation without the usage of a prewritten script, and a question answer period.  The student must demonstrate the ability to be a solid Intermediate High communicator throughout the presentation as well as provide documentation that the sources used in the target language were at the proper target level.

    The student must also complete the ELA Regents exam AND 12th grade English coursework at an 85% or higher.

    Students may opt to take a formal standarized test in lieu of the presentation.  Please see Mrs. Finn for information.

    Interested students must meet with Mrs. Finn throughout the year to plan and create the presentation and provide documentation of the sources being utilized for the project.
